Secretary

The Secretary facilitates communications within the Board. He/She acts as a historian/archivist for the Chapter, records meeting minutes and oversees all Chapter documentation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Keeps meeting minutes at all Board meetings
  • Keeps an inventory list of all chapter materials
  • Maintains chapter contact lists
  • Proofreads Chapter communications and promotional materials
  • Records and documents all Chapter business (election results, minutes, bylaws, etc.)

Attendance at a monthly board meeting is required and availability to assist with event execution and additional duties as required.

Treasurer

The Treasurer provides oversight for all financial related material for the Chapter. He/She works closely with the President and other board members for any expense related items to ensure that each event has a budget and stays within that budget. Works closely with the Board to create revenue-generating strategies for our Chapter.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and manage Chapter budgets
  • Maintain Chapter bookkeeping and complete the Chapter’s tax preparation
  • Manage Chapter’s liability insurance
  • Provide reimbursements for approved Chapter-related expenses

Membership Director

The Membership Director oversees the growth of our Chapter’s membership. He/She is responsible for encouraging new memberships, as well as, helping with the needs of our existing membership.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing strategies and initiatives for Chapter growth
  • Communicate benefits of AIGA membership
  • Monitor new members and make introductions
  • Present a membership report at each Board meeting
  • Keep in communication with Board and assist with programs as needed

Communication Coordinator

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for keeping our membership and community informed about the happenings of the Chapter and AIGA. He/She oversees all outgoing Chapter communications from printed materials to web content to social media. The Events Coordinator relies heavily on the Communications Coordinator to properly promote upcoming Chapter events.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversees all outgoing Chapter communications from printed materials to web content to social media.
  • Present a Communication report at each Board meeting.
  • Coordinates with Events Director  and available volunteers to plan and execute effective marketing for each event and oversee, update and maintain content on the Chapter’s website.
  • Coordinates with available volunteers to document all Chapter events.
  • Manages overall strategy for communications.

Events Coordinator

The Events Coordinator works with all Board members to plan an annual calendar that reflects the Chapter’s activities. He/She develops and produces quality and profitable programming; works closely with fellow board members to produce successful programs; oversee planning of events, particularly establishing and tracking of event budgets (work with the Treasurer), and time management; and assist in securing speakers, sponsors and venues when needed.

Responsibilities include:

  • Works with all Board members to plan an annual calendar that reflects the Chapter’s activities
  • Assists in securing speakers, sponsors and venues for programming when needed
  • Works with Treasurer to develop and oversee event-related budgets and fundraising efforts
  • Ensures event leaders and their committees properly follow event proposal protocol and that event outcomes are summarized and documented
  • Maintains event related documents updated and organized
  • Presents an Event report at each Board meeting

Chair Positions

In an effort to support the future of the chapter, we are looking for our next design leaders. Perhaps you do not feel ready to jump into a board position just yet. That doesn’t mean you can’t be a Chair!

Chairs are Board members that support the directors and their respective teams which are the Membership, Communication, and Programming Teams. Chair Positions as they stand now include: HistorianEducation Chair, and Outreach Chair.

  • The Historian is responsible for helping the Communications Coordinator document events (photos & video), design event graphics, write content for the website/marketing materials etc. Essentially whatever the Communications Coordinator needs help with and all responsibilities are coordinated by the Communications Coordinator.
  • The Education Chair is responsible for helping maintain relationships with the regional students and faculty. This includes assisting the faculty advisors in organizing student groups, arranging studio tours, and other educational programing for students. They work with the Membership Director to manage student membership and involvement.
  • The Outreach Chair is responsible for helping to maintain relationships with partners in the community and sponsors to reach new and diverse audiences. They work closely with the Membership Director to find under-represented communities in El Paso that might benefit from AIGA programming and to help focus the board’s attention on regional issues.

Chairs can also focus on a specific initiative under AIGA, such as the Women Lead Initiative or Design for Democracy.

Advisory Board

Consultants to the Board that offer their expertise and are a resource for new ideas and initiatives. They are asked to make a 1-year commitment, attend at least two board meetings, and lend advice to the board as needed.

Ex-Board Advisor

We are looking for a previous AIGA El Paso board member to offer their expertise in running and managing current operations and provide guidance based off of their previous experience working with AIGA El Paso.  Must have been Board Member for at least 1 year.

Agency Advisor

We are looking for industry leaders to offer input on the relationship with AIGA El Paso to advertising, marketing, design, and related agencies. Must work at or own a creative business.
