Speed Networking (think speed dating for designers/creatives) is our opportunity for the creative community to share your expertise, advertise your skills, and network with local businesses.
You’ll have a chance to ask questions, share your skills/information, and advertise with the creative community. The link is in the bio. See you there!
🔸 What time should I get there? The event is from 6–9 pm; if you wish to participate, please come by between 6–6:50 pm to register.
🔸 How many people will be attending? We have space for 22 attendees to participate. We encourage photographers, designers, students, creatives, agencies, and all creative fields to participate in this event.
🔸 What should I wear? No need for formal wear. Just be yourself
🔸 Can I come if I’m not an emerging designer/creative? Photographers, designers, managers, agencies, teachers, creatives, artists… all are more than welcome to attend.
🔸 What should I expect? The purpose of the event is to meet people in our creative community. Therefore, you should expect a very brief conversation with the participants (Practice a 60-second statement that includes your name, title or occupation, and what you are looking for, such as information, leads, a job, or internship). Keep the conversation until the time is up, and you have to move to the following table.
🔸 Should I bring my portfolio? No. The purpose is more for information gathering. You are more than welcome to follow up with the reps afterward.
🔸 No portfolios??? What should I bring? Your business cards, and maybe a notepad for notes.
🔸 Are refreshments provided? Yes, drinks and small bites will be included.
During the Event
🔸 First of all, have fun. Usually, 5-6 minutes are allowed for each round; the leader will inform the group about the time frame.
🔸 As you meet each person, shake hands and exchange names and business cards. Read each card as you accept it.
🔸 The first person introduces themselves and their purpose, and a very brief conversation occurs.
🔸 Be highly aware of the time factor, so the second person doesn’t get their time cut short. Talking too long in a situation like this is highly insensitive and damages your first impression.
🔸 Take notes on the back of your partner’s business card.
🔸 A good rule: follow-up the next day will be important.
🔸 Above all, respect the process. At the signal, end your conversation immediately and move, or allow the other person to move, to the next person. You can always continue conversations later.
